mysongrequest.uk lets DJs take song requests and votes from their guests, and collect music choices from their clients before an event. This notice explains what personal information the service handles, why, and what your rights are.
Who we are
mysongrequest.uk is run by Lee James Apps, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom.
Our role, and the DJ's role
- For DJs who hold an account, we are the controller of your account and billing information.
- For guests and clients of a DJ, the DJ decides why and how your details are used, so the DJ is the controller and we process the information on their behalf. If you have a question about a request you sent or a planning form you filled in, you can ask the DJ directly, or contact us and we will pass it on and help.
What we collect
| Who | What |
|---|---|
| DJs (account holders) | Email address, password (stored only as a secure one-way hash), DJ or business name, branding (colour and logo), your events, song lists and settings. If you connect DJ Event Planner, your login for it, stored encrypted and used only to import your clients' music when you ask. |
| Billing | Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we keep only Stripe's customer and subscription references and your plan dates. |
| Guests at an event | The song and artist you request, plus a name and message if you choose to add them, and your votes. Your browser keeps a random device ID so the DJ can apply per-person limits and block abuse. Your IP address is used briefly in memory to stop spam and is not stored with your request. |
| A DJ's clients (planning page) | The songs, event details and contact notes you type into the planning form your DJ sent you. |
Our web server also keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security.
Why we use it
- To provide the service: run your account, show requests to the DJ, run votes and planning pages. (Lawful basis: performing our contract with the DJ.)
- To take payment and keep accounting records. (Contract and legal obligation.)
- To send service emails such as your welcome email, password resets and important account notices. (Contract and legitimate interests.)
- To keep the service secure and stop spam, abuse and offensive requests. (Legitimate interests.)
We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and guests are never added to any mailing list.
Who else handles it
- Stripe: card payments and subscriptions.
- Zoho: sending our emails.
- Fasthosts: the server the service runs on, in the UK.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations.
How long we keep it
- Account information is kept while your account is open. If you ask us to close your account, we delete it with all its events, songs and guest requests.
- Guest requests, votes and planning details stay with the DJ's event until the DJ deletes the event or the account.
- Billing records are kept for 6 years for tax purposes.
- Backups are kept for 30 days, then deleted.
Cookies and browser storage
We use no advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
- Login cookie (
sr_sess): set only when a DJ logs in, so the app knows who you are. It is strictly necessary. - Browser storage: the guest page keeps a random device ID; the planning page remembers its PIN on your device; the DJ app remembers screen preferences. None of this is used for tracking.
- Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout and billing pages, to process payments and prevent fraud.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict it or stop using it, or move it to another service. Email lee@leejamesapps.co.uk. Where a DJ is the controller, we will help them answer your request.
If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, we will tell account holders by email.
